Revision Knee Joint Replacement Surgery
Revision knee replacement may be considered when a previous knee implant causes persistent pain, instability, stiffness, loosening, wear, infection or other problems. Assessment includes a review of symptoms, previous operation records, examination and investigations to help identify the cause. Not every painful replacement needs revision surgery. Depending on the findings, options may include monitoring, non-surgical care, further tests or surgery. Revision surgery may involve replacing some or all implant components and addressing bone loss; reconstruction or bone grafting may be considered in complex cases. If infection is present, a different treatment plan, sometimes staged, may be required. Risks, alternatives and expected recovery are discussed individually. Recovery may be longer and more complex than after a first knee replacement. Book a consultation with Dr. Aman Dua for assessment. This information is general and does not replace medical advice.
